Who is H. P. Blavatsky?
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831–1891) was a renowned occultist and co-founder of the Theosophical Society. Through works such as The Secret Doctrine, The Key to Theosophy, Isis Unveiled, and hundreds of articles, she presented a synthesis of science, religion, and philosophy, drawing from Eastern and Western esoteric traditions. In The Voice of the Silence, she conveyed practical instructions for living the spiritual life, offering guidance for those who would tread the path of selflessness and compassion. Her mission, as theosophists see it, was to reintroduce humanity to the ageless truths that underlie all world faiths, and to inspire a living practice of universal brotherhood. Blavatsky’s life and writings remain a cornerstone for modern esoteric study and the revival of the perennial philosophy.

Who is W. Q. Judge?
William Quan Judge (1851–1896) was a co-founder of the Theosophical Society and one of the foremost exponents of theosophy in the West. A devoted occultist and tireless worker for the Cause, he translated the lofty ideals of the Wisdom-Religion into clear and practical guidance for daily life. Through writings such as The Ocean of Theosophy and his translation of The Bhagavad Gita, Judge illuminated the fundamental principles of karma, reincarnation, and spiritual self-discipline. Theosophists regard him as a steadfast defender of the original program of the Movement and an exemplar of selfless service to humanity. Many students approach Judge’s writings as a complement to, or even an accessible entrance into, the deeper study of H. P. Blavatsky’s works.

Other prominent Theosophists we are currently studying
Robert Crosbie (1849–1919) was the founder of the United Lodge of Theosophists and a dedicated exponent of the original teachings of H. P. Blavatsky and William Q. Judge. Through his work for theosophy and his writings, he emphasized the living practice of theosophy in thought, speech, and action, fostering independent study and self-reliance in the spiritual life.
B. P. Wadia (1881–1958) was a devoted theosophist, author, and lecturer whose work bridged the Eastern and Western expressions of the Wisdom-Religion. In books like Studies in the Secret Doctrine and Thus Have I Heard, he conveyed the depth of theosophy’s philosophy while urging its application in daily service and ethical living.
